“Baltimore Heirs: The Last Deed Undone” is a 2026 SOS Fund–produced documentary examining the crisis of heirs’ property in Baltimore and its impact on Black families
About the film
Directed and written by Jewel Guy, this 45‑minute documentary investigates how tangled property titles, predatory property systems, tax sales, and generations of inequitable housing policies have led to the loss of family homes, land, and wealth in historically Black Baltimore communities. It blends deeply personal stories with historical analysis to reveal the systemic roots of displacement and the urgent need for estate planning and property rights reform.
The SOS Fund describes it as a powerful documentary that highlights the “hidden crisis” of heirs’ property and its lasting effects on Black families.

Why it matters
The film supports the SOS Fund’s mission to prevent home loss and displacement in Baltimore’s redlined Black neighborhoods and dismantle systemic barriers to property ownership and wealth retention.
Immediately following a 30-minute talk, the SOS Fund can provide intake for service referrals.

Session Overview:
My Story, My Words is a guided 90‑minute experience designed to help participants reflect on their life story, organize essential information, and prepare materials their loved ones will one day need. Through gentle prompts and activities, participants will begin drafting the extended obituary content that memorial programs require, curate meaningful photographs, and gain comfort and confidence in completing an end‑of‑life preparation planner. This workshop offers a supportive, thoughtful space to honor your journey and preserve your story in your own words.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the purpose and value of legacy planning and documenting personal history throughout life.
- Draft key components of an extended obituary using a guided worksheet.
- Identify meaningful photographs and artifacts they may want included in a future memorial program.
- Organize essential personal information that loved ones will need for end‑of‑life arrangements.
- Demonstrate increased comfort and readiness to complete an end‑of‑life preparation planner independently.

Brienne Remy is Manager of Learning and Development at WWF-US, where she has spent nearly 20 years strengthening staff learning. An ATD Master Trainer and Certified Professional in Talent Development, she creates experiences that help people and teams grow. She also enjoys hosting gatherings, travel, and culinary adventures.

Civic Saturdays are designed as an opportunity for the 21217 community to get more engaged with each other and become more informed, enabled and empowered! We meet either virtually or in-person the third Saturday of each month unless otherwise noted. Civic Saturday Sessions usually include an expert guest who guides us through a topic, engagement effort or neighborhood involvement, support or appreciation event.

Join No Boundaries Coalition for our October Membership Meeting as we bring parents, students, residents, and community members together to prepare for the 2026 General Election. We want community members from 21217 and Baltimore at large to be aware, informed, and prepared to vote!
We will be hosting a candidates forum open to all Baltimore City residents. We will hear from current school board candidates and learn how they plan to take action as advocates for Baltimore City students and families if they are elected this November. The school board in an integral accountability body that provides a check and balance to the leadership of the BCPSS Superintendent. Let’s get informed together, so that we can choose the best candidates for our city.
In addition, we will be joined by our Council President, Zeke Cohen as he gives a brief presentation and answers community questions. This will be followed by an update on the Consent Decree from Baltimore City Police.
Bring a friend and be prepared to take notes, so that you can be election day ready!

The interactive cooking class takes places Thursday, February 23 and will feature an interactive cooking demonstration, followed by dinner. Proceeds from this event will support Fresh at the Avenue, a weekly community-powered produce market as well as No Boundaries Coalition’s general operations.
On Saturday, February 25th, 12pm – 4pm. join us for our 7th Anniversary Party, featuring an afternoon of family fun and free cupcakes while they last. A Kale Cook-Off will also be taking place, starting at 3:15pm. Community chefs will compete to make the best kale dish. Ingredients will come from Fresh at the Avenue inventory.

Saturday, February 29, 2020 — Fresh at the Avenue, a social enterprise of No Boundaries Coalition, hosted a live cooking competition and tasting in celebration of its 4th Anniversary at the Avenue Market. The competition tested each contestant’s ability to prepare a raw and cooked kale dish using ingredients available from Fresh, augmented where necessary. Each participant was allowed one secret ingredient and an optional sous chef to win the competition.

On November 9, 2019, No Boundaries Coalition hosted its annual fundraiser. “A Royal Unmasking: No Boundaries Coalition 2020 and Beyond” took place at the Historic Westminster Hall in Baltimore, MD. The fundraiser is held annually to continue support for the advocacy work of the No Boundaries Coalition of Central West Baltimore.
On November 3, 2018, the No Boundaries Coalition hosted its annual fundraiser at the Historic Westminster Hall, in Baltimore, MD. Last year’s theme was “Our History, Our Hope.” The fundraiser is held annually to continue support for the advocacy work of the No Boundaries Coalition of Central West Baltimore.
On June 1, 2019, No Boundaries Coalition and Jubilee Arts Baltimore hosted the 12th Annual Boundary Block Party, which brought residents together in central west Baltimore across boundaries of race and class and neighborhoods to celebrate the strengths of the community.
The next block party will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020.
