The Block Captains Boot Camp is a leadership program, designed to give residents the knowledge and skills to organize in their community around issues that are important to them. Boot Camp takes place weekly, in a three hour classroom session over a twelve (12) week period. Participants will also need to earn additional hours of volunteer service in order to successfully complete Leadership Academy.
Fall Cohort will begin on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025. Leadership Academy will continue every Thursday for the ongoing twelve (12) weeks for three hours starting at 6:00 pm and ending at 9:00 pm.
Requirements
• Must be 18 and over
• Must have a direct connection to 21217 (Live, Work, Serve, or Worship)
Completing the Program
Upon completion of the 12-week session, graduates will be eligible for empowering volunteer opportunities in our community. In addition to grounding participants in power dynamics, Leadership Academy will build tangible organizing skills that will allow participants to complete tasks identified on the one pager.
Terms & Compensation
Individuals will be given an incentive for their efforts which will be based on attendance and required volunteer time. Details for incentives will be shared in detail during the interview.
